The Way of Happiness (The Beatitudes Part 1)

Are you happy?  Do you want to be happy?

Beatitude: Latin root is "blessed".

Jesus paints a picture of how wonderful it is to follow God.

Matt. 5:3 "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."

       - A dependence on God; "Lord I need you."

Matt 5:4 "Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted."

       - Citizens of My Kingdom are blest

       - My citizens are happy because they grieve about their sin.

       - Jesus won't leave us in our grief

Matt 5:5 "Blessed are the weak, for they will inherit the earth"

       - Strength under control

       - To be week shows a willingness to submit under control

       - The meek don't always have to prove themselves

       - The meek are released to be humble and sensitive
