Oh The Weather Outside Is Frightful
We would rather stump our pinky toe on the corner of living room furniture than to ever cancel an opportunity to worship our Lord and to gather as a church family. Unfortunately, there will be times when winter weather will make road conditions so bad that cancelling Sunday morning activities and worship service will be the sensible decision.
To keep everyone informed on cancellations due to winter weather, the elders want you to know all the ways we will communicate Sunday cancellations. So, here is the plan.
Important Items To Note
Decisions could be made as late as 7:00 a.m. of that Sunday.
This plan ONLY relates to Sunday MORNING activities and worship service. Please contact the leaders/coordinators of a small group, activity, or event that occurs Sunday evening or during the week to check their status if adverse winter weather conditions are occurring.
If there is not a notification of cancellation, you should assume that everything is open and on schedule.
Where Notices Are Posted
There are various ways that we will communicate Sunday morning cancellations. Below is a list of where you can stay informed, with the most reliable ways listed first. Please check multiple locations for a cancellation notice. Since we are relying on third parties (that we do not control) to get the word out, we cannot guarantee they will be prompt in presenting the notice to you.
The home page of this website is the most reliable place to stay informed.
If you are signed up to receive the church newsletter, Know & Go, then you should receive an email notifying you of any cancellations. If you are not currently receiving the Know & Go and would like to add your email to the list, then fill out the form below.
Please check the actual church’s Facebook page and not just your feed. We will post a notice on our page but we can’t guarantee that it will appear in your feed. Our Facebook page can be found at www.facebook.com/EncounterChurchky .
We will send out a text message alert to those who have signed up to receive a text alert. If you are currently receiving text alerts then you do not need to sign up again. If you would like to receive text alerts from the church, simply text “Encounter” to 502-904-1234. Your carrier's text message rates apply. (This is an automated text only number for the church to send text messages. No phone calls are accepted at this number. Nobody will read any messages texted to this number.)
If it is possible we will try to post a notice on the church door large enough to read from the parking lot.
If you receive notice then let others know. Text 4 or 5 people that you know in church. If you see it on Facebook, please share it on you page.
